Leadership Hints

HAVE A PLAN - Write it down so you can present it visibly to your team - from the head assistant to the newest player. Otherwise, people will start going off on different tangents, and you can't have that.

BE ORGANIZED - Your team must understand explicitly the direction you're going in - no ifs, ands, or buts. Map out your plan(s) and hand them out in notebook form. If you're not organized, you've got a problem, because people feel like they're out there swaying in the wind.

PRIORITIZE - When you're the leader, everybody knocks on your door inad it's easy to get sidetracked. If you can't differentiate between what's important and what's not important, pretty soon all your time has been taken up and you've accomplished nothing.

BE FLEXIBLE - There are going to be a lot of things htat come up every day that are not exactly going to fall right down the middle of the rad. You've got to be adaptable enough in your judgement to make calls that keep everything within the flow of what you want to do but at the same time not be so rigid.

BE FIT - If you don't make it a daily part of your schedule to work out, not only to stay in condition but also to relieve the stress, this job will blow you down. You'll make decisions that are bad just because you're fatigued.
