HSC Deployment

Updated 17 Feb 2006

We were called up on 24 January 2003 for a period of active duty "not to exceed 365 days." We were at our mobilization station in Ft. McCoy, Wisc. until March 28.

We were in northwest Kuwait at Camp New York until 20 April 2003, when we headed north into Iraq. We were in and around Mosul, Iraq, providing medical care for the 101st Airborne Division until mid-July 2003. We spent the rest of our deployment in the Baghdad area providing medical support for units in V Corps at Camp Anaconda near Balad. By 14 March 2004, we were in Kuwait preparing for redeployment home.
Our main body flew home to Ft. McCoy early 28 March 2004 and then enjoyed a tremendous "Welcome Home" at Coral Ridge Mall in Iowa City on April 1st. Our trail party got home on April 20th after completing the final packing of our equipment. Many of them had volunteered to stay behind so that soldiers with children could get home sooner.

We thank our families, friends, employers and communities
for their tremendous support during this long year.
We couldn't have done it without you.
